Jobs, Entrepreneurship, Tourism, and the Challenges Ahead:
A Mass CBA Economic Forum
With Massachusetts’ new era of legalization only weeks away, its full economic impact has gone largely unexplored and unappreciated. Thousands of new jobs will be created. Soon, tourists will flock in from all over the world. Meanwhile, hundreds of new businesses are in the process of formation, and they are creating the need for a wide range of services, from construction and security to trucking and accounting.
Is Massachusetts ready for the onslaught of economic activity, and is the scope of the new industry fully understood?
An important new trade group — the Massachusetts Cannabis Business Association (MassCBA) — has been formed to provide focus on education, best practices and broader appreciation for the emerging industry. Join the State House News Forum — the events division of the State House News Service — and co-host MassCBA to hear industry leaders who will explore the widespread business potential of the Massachusetts cannabis economy.
Opening remarks: Shawn Collins, Executive Director, Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission
Panel 1: Cannabis and the Massachusetts Economic Impact: Are We Ready?
A panel of experts will discuss the expanding cannabis industry’s statewide reach in the years ahead, including investment, job growth, and tourism and the need to anticipate a wide range of new business activity.
Panel 2: Sizing Up Entrepreneurship Opportunities in a New Industry
As business formation in the Massachusetts cannabis industry expands, where’s the action and what are the obstacles? A panel of business experts on the front lines of the industry weigh in. Panelists include Rob Hunt, founder of Shingle Hill, A Cannabis Consultancy, and Shaleen Title, a commissioner with the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission, and Keith Cooper, CEO of Revolutionary Clinics. A full lineup of panelists and moderators will be announced shortly.
